Just Curious is it possible to play story mode co-op? If so how? I got the game from a friend and of course no book lol thnxs

No, unfortunately. That definitely would've made Story mode a whole lot more fun too. You can beat up on the AI in Versus mode co-op to your heart's content though. (You can even beat the AI up 2-on-1 if you're feeling especially evil!) You just need 2 profiles on the 360 to do it.
